HARRODSBURG — Ephraim McDowell James B. Haggin Hospital recently passed an unannounced state inspection relating to their COVID-19 response. The inspection was done by the Kentucky Office of Inspector General (OIG) and no deficiencies were found.

The OIG is visiting nursing homes and hospitals to make sure CDC guidelines and the state mandates are being followed. The surveyor was very thorough and interviewed staff, watched patient care activities and observed the cleaning of equipment between patients.

He spoke to housekeeping about the cleaning process for patient care areas. The surveyor reviewed policies and processes relative to COVID-19 and education materials for associates, patients, and visitors.

The surveyor requested logs to validate daily screenings of all associates before they start their shift as well as education logs to validate education to associates on infection prevention processes.

“We are proud of our associates and our response to the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Dr. Lynne Warner Lynn, DNP, RN, Administrator at Ephraim McDowell James B. Haggin Hospital. “The inspector was very complimentary of our policies and plans that were created in response to the pandemic and our efforts to assure patient safety.”
